Kate Fiske

Kate is the Program Manager for Listening to Voices, a project dedicated to fostering acceptance and understanding of diverse narratives around mental health. With a background in anthropology and sociology, Kate’s passion for embracing different perspectives on ‘mental illness’ was ignited by the Hearing Voices movement, which continues to inspire her work today.

As a committed ally to the Hearing Voices Approach and a long-time facilitator of Hearing Voices groups, Kate brings both professional expertise and a deep, personal commitment to her role. Her extensive experience as a critical social worker has been instrumental in supporting individuals and communities in developing a more compassionate and inclusive understanding of mental health experiences.

Listening to Voices is not just a program but a powerful initiative that uses community development and experiential theatre to engage the broader public in meaningful dialogue. By facilitating performances that give voice to those often unheard, the project aims to break down barriers, build connections, and foster empathy. Through these efforts, Kate strives to create spaces where diverse experiences are acknowledged and respected, and where communities can come together to challenge stigma and cultivate understanding.

Driven by her curiosity and commitment to humaneness, Kate works tirelessly to amplify the voices of those who are often marginalised and to promote a narrative of mental health that is inclusive, compassionate, and grounded in lived experience. Her work reflects a dedication to increasing community dialogue and creating environments where everyone’s story is heard and valued.
